A bike tour to the German Wind Power Museum
On Wednesday, July 10, 2024, approximately 50 members of the Old Guard of the Kleinendorf Rifle Club visited the German Wind Power Museum. This tour took place at the initiative of Major Wolfgang Meier, Major of the Old Guard, as part of a 35-km bike tour planned by the rifle club. The tour started at 1 p.m., and the group set off by bike from the rifle club house in Rahden-Kleinendorf to the German Wind Power Museum in Stemwede-Oppendorf.
First, there was coffee and cake on the terrace. The guests were welcomed by the museum and given an initial introduction to the operation of classic windmills. Afterward, the actual tour of the museum’s outdoor grounds began. During the tour, the German Wind Power Museum’s exhibits, some of which are unique, were presented to the visitors. In addition to the technical aspects, the tour also focused on the history of wind power and its current role in energy generation and climate protection.
Afterwards, the group made its way back to the Schützenhaus, where the day concluded with a barbecue. Wolfgang Meier, Major of the Old Guard, had words of praise for the museum visit: “It was a very nice visit to the German Wind Power Museum. We were able to enjoy the good weather and learn interesting things about the history and current significance of wind energy. The numerous exhibits brought the information to life. A visit is definitely worth it!”
