Rotor Blades

Special Exhibition “Rotor Blades”

Over the past five years, the German Wind Power Museum has been able to build a substantial collection of a wide variety of wind turbines from seven countries.

This has also been accompanied by a significant increase in the number of rotor blades, which currently stands at almost 100.

At several past annual general meetings of the association, the idea of establishing a special exhibition on the museum grounds specifically dedicated to the development of rotor blade technology was repeatedly expressed.

The development and manufacture of rotor blades is one of the most difficult and demanding hurdles in wind turbine construction. Expertise in the fields of aerodynamics, statics, steel and mechanical engineering, plastics processing (fiberglass/carbon fiber), and composite construction (sandwich construction) is essential.

This makes it all the more interesting to present the vastly different technological and craftsmanship approaches from four decades of wind technology to the public.

The exhibition will feature both industrial products and individual designs.
