Since 2019, the Minden-L\u00fcbbecke district has held two annual competitions, “Heimat Preis Minden-L\u00fcbbecke” and “D\u00f6rfer mit Ideen” (Villages with Ideas). These competitions recognize exemplary, concrete initiatives that are forward-looking and serve as models for the region.
\nThe organizer is the Minden-L\u00fcbbecke district and the Office for Economic and District Development. The competition is supported by the North Rhine-Westphalia State Ministry for Home Affairs, Local Government, Building and Equal Opportunities (MHKBG).
\nIn August 2022, Ulrich Zieske, Chairman of the Pedagogical Working Group of the German Wind Power Museum (Deutsches Windkraftmuseum e.V.), was fortunate enough to spontaneously seize the opportunity to register the association and its environmental education activities for the Minden-L\u00fcbbecke Homeland Prize and participate in the competition.

\nIn September 2022, an independent jury awarded the German Wind Power Museum first prize in the Minden-L\u00fcbbecke Homeland Prize for its environmental education work. The prize is endowed with \u20ac5,000.
