International Visit to the German Wind Power Museum
On April 8, 2025, the mayor of Stemwede, Kai Abruszat, together with Jan Philip Ehlers, welcomed an international delegation to the German Wind Power Museum. In his welcoming address, he emphasized the importance of the German Wind Power Museum, which is also supported by the municipality. He also acknowledged the pioneering work of the founders of the German Wind Power Museum.
Representatives of the World Wind Energy Association (WWEA) and the English Mills Archive Trust were present for the international visit. The reason for the visit is a project initiated and funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe: “Mills to Megawatts: A Journey of Wind Energy across Europe.” The Mills Archive Trust, in collaboration with the WWEA and with the support of the German Wind Power Museum and the Nordic Folkecenter for Renewable Energy, submitted a contribution to the Mills to Megawatt project. During the meeting, the relevant details of the collaboration were worked out, including in conjunction with other participants from Europe who joined via video link.
Stefan Gsänger, WWEA Secretary General: “In order to be well prepared for the future, it is very important that we know our history. The German Wind Power Museum makes a very valuable contribution to not only preserving the history of wind technology, but also making it accessible. Therefore, the museum was also the ideal meeting place for our symposium, which focused on how we can make the history of wind energy use more accessible throughout Europe and worldwide. The exchange and networking with colleagues from other countries should help to further strengthen the work of such important institutions in the future. A heartfelt thank you for your generous hospitality.”
The museum looks forward to future collaboration and the positive impulses that will emerge from this international exchange.
